MWC26 Shanghai | First to Launch with Android 16, SLM580 Smart Module Covers Global Core Frequency Bands

Release Date: 2026-06-25 Views: 124 Source: MeiG

In critical industrial and energy sectors, 4G networks continue to serve as an indispensable pillar in the present, owing to their extensive coverage, superior cost‑efficiency, and well‑established supply chain. Nevertheless, the rising adoption of physical AI and intelligent agent applications has shifted industry requirements for 4G communication modules beyond fundamental connectivity, toward a triad of enhanced on‑device intelligence, robust and ubiquitous connectivity, and an optimal price‑performance ratio.

On the opening day of MWC26 Shanghai, MeiG Smart officially launched the SLM580 4G Smart Module. Featuring native support for Android 16 and a discrete memory architecture, the module covers core frequency bands in major countries and regions worldwide. Its pin-to-pin compatibility with MeiG Smart's SLM927 series further establishes the SLM580 as a cost-effective, highly adaptable hardware foundation for next-generation intelligent IoT endpoints.

An industry-first Android 16 integration with superior overall performance – building a long‑life, high‑value hardware foundation.

SLM580 module is built upon Qualcomm's newly introduced 400-series platform, fabricated with a 4nm process technology. It integrates an octa-core Kryo CPU and an Adreno GPU operating at 738MHz, and provides native Android 16 support, which brings measurable improvements in privacy protection, graphics rendering pipelines, and power efficiency. The module supports 1080p@60fps video decoding (H.264/H.265/VP9) and 1080p@30fps encoding (H.264/H.265), complemented by a rich set of display, camera, touch, and audio interfaces. These capabilities enable high-definition, low-latency multimedia processing and sustained system reliability for applications including aftermarket in-vehicle devices, POS terminals, cash registers, and UAV remote controllers.

At the same time, for industry-grade devices in sectors such as financial payment and medical handheld terminals—where a 5- to 8-year product lifecycle is typically mandated—SLM580 ensures extended system maintenance and security update support, offering clients a consistently cost-effective technical solution over the entire deployment horizon.

Global band coverage – enabling "zero-cost" upgrades to 4G smart modules.

As the latest addition to MeiG Smart's 4G module portfolio, SLM580 is available in region-specific variants for Europe, Asia, North America, Latin America, and Japan, alongside a global-band version covering all mainstream frequency allocations. This flexible band configuration substantially reduces certification overhead and development expenditure associated with worldwide deployments, by allowing seamless adaptation to diverse regional network infrastructures.

The module additionally integrates Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0, embeds a multi-constellation GNSS receiver (GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou), and supports dual-SIM dual-standby, along with voice, SMS, and phonebook functions, thus addressing a broad spectrum of digital upgrade requirements across IoT product categories. In terms of physical form factor, SLM580 adopts the identical LGA package of 41.0mm × 41.0mm × 2.85mm, and maintains pin-to-pin compatibility with the SLM927 series. This design choice minimizes customers' device iteration cycles and reduces the overall cost of generational upgrades.

Rich functional interfaces and discrete memory architecture – precisely targeting cost-effective intelligent upgrades.

SLM580 integrates a comprehensive set of peripheral interfaces, including LCM, touch panel, camera, microphone, speaker, UART, USB, I2C, SPI, PCIe, among others. On the memory side, it employs a discrete DDR5 + eMMC storage architecture. This combination renders the module suitable for a wide array of 4G-based IoT use cases, such as smart cockpit systems, video logging devices, intelligent POS terminals, logistics handhelds, autonomous robots, surveillance equipment, and UAVs. The architecture effectively accommodates complex, fragmented functional requirements while accelerating product evolution and digital transformation for client solutions.

On the whole, the MeiG Smart SLM580 represents a comprehensive, cost-effective solution for next-generation smart retail terminals, in-vehicle systems, industrial gateways, and other multi-scenario deployments. It not only fulfills the pressing industry need for cost-effective digital upgrades, but also serves as a high-performance computing engine that empowers end devices with intelligent differentiation. MeiG Smart remains committed to advancing the innovation and deployment of cost-effective connectivity solutions, and will continue to leverage its extensive intelligent IoT ecosystem to collaborate with global partners in accelerating the next wave of intelligent transformation.
